The International Institute of Space Law is delighted to announce that the problem for the 2021 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition has now been released and is published on the Institute’s website (please see here). The case between the (fictional) States of Proclivia and Asteria involves the activities of ‘mega’-constellations of small satellites, the use of autonomous space operations, and the impacts of a collision between space objects on the freedom of scientific investigation in space and on Earth (in Antarctica). The 2021 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court case does not take place in a distant science-fiction-like world but rather combines, albeit in an entirely fictional scenario, innovative technologies, lifelike administrative settings and topical challenges of modern-day spaceflight.
