In August 2009, on the occasion of the 7th Brazilian Congress on International Law, the first Brazilian space law seminar ever was held at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil.

IISL President Tanja Masson-Zwaan was invited by the Brazilian Space Agency to travel to the country and gave a lecture at the workshop, where Prof. Monserrat, Dr Valnora Leister and Mr Olavo Bittencourt also gave papers.
